Our work with secondary schools and young people

Dance Partnership and Access Programme

Our Dance Partnership & Access Programme offers a variety of opportunities for secondary schools, colleges, youth groups and Royal Ballet School students throughout the year including: aDvANCE London and National projects; Young Creatives, INSIGHT events and Museum visits.
All these projects and events are designed to introduce the art form of classical ballet to young people in a creative and dynamic way.

aDvANCE London

This long term project is designed for London secondary schools, colleges, youth groups, and students from The Royal Ballet School. The projects provide opportunities for creative and social exchange by working collaboratively to explore elements of ballet. They culminate in the creation of a joint dance performance piece, for approximately 50 young dancers, which is performed in one of The Royal Ballet School’s theatres.

Our aDvANCE London projects can contribute toward Bronze Arts Award through participation in physical activity, discussion and improving personal arts practice.

aDvANCE National

Provides a creative insight to the art form of ballet, and the training involved in becoming a classical ballet dancer, through creative workshops and visits. The project is structured to be delivered over one term by the group’s dance teacher in collaboration with a designated Royal Ballet School visiting artist.  It culminates in performance of original student dance pieces at The Royal Ballet School.

Our aDvANCE National project can contribute toward Bronze, Silver or Gold Arts Award through participation and discussion, improving and extending arts practice and learning about arts organisations through participation.
