Spring Intensives 2019: your response

Thanks everyone who attended our Spring Intensive courses in Hong Kong and London this April.

A total of 299 students from 30 different countries attended the courses at White Lodge, and at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong. They enjoyed intensive ballet training from artistic staff of The Royal Ballet School, alumni and guest teachers such as Itziar Mendizabal, Valeri Hristov, Samira Saidi, Jason Mabana, Julia Ellis and Mikaela Polley to name but a few.

Classes at Spring Intensive included classical ballet, contemporary, character dance, body conditioning and creative. Not only did students gain valuable insight into the training of our students; they were able to meet new people, make friends and share their passion for dance.

We also held dance teacher seminars from our Inspire series at our Hong Kong intensive, allowing greater access to this popular programme for teachers from around the world.

Your response:

White Lodge

‘It was my first experience dancing at White Lodge and it gave me the chance to fulfil a long held dream to be at The Royal Ballet School.’

‘It was wonderful dancing with likeminded individuals and I learnt so much from the teachers and other students. I received corrections which I know I will take on with me to further improve.’

‘It felt like a real turning point for me on my path to be the best dancer I can be.’

‘I loved meeting other dancers from all over the world who I will stay in touch with. I felt very well looked after and the dance tuition was second to none.’

Hong Kong

‘The Hong Kong Spring Intensive with The Royal Ballet School was such an amazing experience. This was my second year attending in Hong Kong and it is better each time. Learning different repertoires and different techniques from amazing teachers is so inspiring and getting the opportunity to perform in front of an audience in the fantastic studios is a great experience. I hope to attend more intensives in the future!’

‘I loved the experience of working with teachers who are committed to bringing out the best in a student. I have areas of developments and I wish to learn from my peers as well as the RBS team. It was intense but extremely fun at the same time, which is what I look for from any non-full time course. It validated my passion to be a full time student in ballet.’

‘I enjoyed every single minute of every day. The teachers, my classmates, the facilities and the atmosphere were outstanding. I don’t study dance full time yet, so this experience has opened up so many possibilities for me to see where further opportunities may lie.’

  1. Totally agree with Karen Berry. Working from the Inside out is discussed at every course. One recipe isn’t the same learning process for every student. Real teaching is finding the way to reach not simple teach!
