Discover Dance – Boys’ Workshop
17th February 2015
The Royal Ballet School would like to invite boys aged 8 to 10 by 31 August 2015 (currently in years 3, 4 and 5) to visit The Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden to find out a little about dance and ballet.
The boys will take part in a workshop where they will learn some of the basic ballet movements in a creative and fun way. They will also be invited to watch some of our youngest and oldest students sharing aspects of their ballet training.
The class is 1 1/2 hours long and will be split into groups depending on age and experience.
All dancers should arrive at the event underchanged (ie with their ballet clothes underneath their outdoor wear). We advise attendees to arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to the start of the class.
Every young dancer must be accompanied by one parent or guardian.
This day is suitable for boys who have no previous ballet experience or have only been attending ballet classes for less than 1 year.
This day will also be of value to Primary School and dance teachers with an interest in encouraging and introducing dance to Primary aged children in an engaging and creative way.
In addition to observing the day there be will a Professional Development Workshop for teachers on Tuesday 17 February which will include an opportunity to participate in a model dance lesson and a discussion on identifying and encouraging children with a talent for dance. Each teacher will receive a copy of The Royal Ballet School’s primarySTEPS Resource.
Student accompanied by a Parent/Guardian – £20
