For boys and girls
Our Boys and Girls’ Dance Day is a fun and creative dance class for energetic children aged 7-10 years, plus a demonstration of training by The Royal Ballet School Junior Associate and Upper School students. No previous experience of ballet necessary (1 year maximum).
Every child must be accompanied by one parent/guardian who will be able to watch the dance class and demonstration.
For primary teachers
Our Primary Teachers’ Dance Day is an opportunity for teachers to observe the children’s dance classes and a demonstration by Royal Ballet School students, followed by a professional development workshop based on The Royal Ballet School’s primary cross-curricular resource.
This day will be of value to primary teachers and dance teachers interested in encouraging and introducing dance to primary-aged children in an engaging and creative way.
The professional development workshop for teachers will include an opportunity to participate in a model dance lesson and a discussion on identifying and encouraging children with a talent for dance.
Each teacher participating in the workshop will also receive a copy of The Royal Ballet School’s primary cross-curricular resource which comprises:
• A scheme of work for teaching dance as part of PE at Key Stage 2
• Detailed suggestions for planning connections between dance and other curriculum areas
• Electronic and paper resources to support lesson delivery
Teachers may choose to attend:
Full day – which includes boys and girls’ dance class observation, demonstration and professional development workshop (plus a free copy of the primary resource)
Half day – which includes boys and girls’ dance class observation and demonstration only
How much does it cost?
Boys and Girls’ Dance Day – Child with one parent/ guardian £20
Full Primary Teachers’ Dance Day – Teacher £75
Half Primary Teachers’ Dance Day– Teacher £20
