Shinji Mitoma

Shinji started ballet at the age of three. He is learning ballet at the Watanabe Buber Ballet Academy.

Shinji’s ballet achievements include 1st place in the Tokyo Summer Ballet Competition (2021) , 1st place in the NBA Yokohama Ballet Competition (2022), 1st place in the Youth Grand Prix (pre-competitive, 2023), 2nd place in the Ballet Japan Cup (2023), 1st place in the Youth America Grand Prix Tampa Final.

On being named a Royal Ballet School International Scholar, Shinji said:

‘‘I am very honored to receive an International Scholarship from the Royal Ballet School. Last year, I took lessons on a short-term scholarship, and the teachers instructed me warmly and enthusiastically. I longed to study ballet seriously at The Royal Ballet School someday, so it’s like a dream. I want to make the most of this opportunity and do my best to improve.’’
