Ursula Moreton Emerging Choreographer 2024
On Thursday 21 March, our Ursula Moreton Emerging Choreographer performances returned to the stage at White Lodge. These performances serve as a vital platform for students to showcase their choreographic prowess to a captivated audience.
Students began the process under the guidance of our Choreographic Teacher, Rhian Robbins, to help shape their created works.
Students collaborated on each level of the process, from choosing their own music to working with our wardrobe department to select costumes. They also worked with set and lighting design, giving them insight into choreographing and staging a performance.
Their peers from Years 7, 8, and 9 helped bring these creations to life as dancers in the pieces. After their performances, our panel of artists and professionals in the dance industry, Christopher Hampson, Kristen McNally, and Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp provided valuable feedback to the students.
Our School is committed to nurturing young talent and fostering creativity, inspired by the legacy of our founder, Dame Ninette de Valois. Our Ninette de Valois Choreographic Programme aims to inspire and support emerging artists.
Thank you to our panel, supporters, staff, and students for making the event a success.
