Sir Peter Wright’s 90th birthday celebrations at The Royal Ballet School

On Monday 21 November 2016, the student body and artistic teaching staff gathered at the Upper School to wish ballet legend and long-term supporter of the School, Sir Peter Wright a very happy 90th birthday.

The celebrations were a surprise event and as Sir Peter arrived at the School, students from both White Lodge and the Upper School sat silently in the Linden Studio, waiting for the big reveal.

Sir Peter was then treated to a performance of his piece, Summertide by our 3rd Year students, which forms part of the 3rd Year repertoire.

Afterwards our Artistic Director, Christopher Powney gave a speech to thank Sir Peter for the support he shows the school year on year. Two Year 10 students presented Sir Peter with a gift and birthday cake in the shape of his famous nutcracker, beautifully created by our Operations Coordinator, Celeste Clerkin.
