On Friday 17 June, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales visited White Lodge to watch class, meet staff and pupils, and to express his continued pride at being our President.
The Prince of Wales was greeted at the doors of White Lodge by our Head Girl and Head Boy, as well as Year 9 student, Lydia. She presented His Royal Highness with a pair of decorated pointe shoes, as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II on her 90th birthday.
The Prince of Wales was led around the school by Artistic Director, Christopher Powney. He was shown a Year 9 boys’ classical ballet class as well as a Year 10 GCSE Art class as they prepared their coursework.
He was then taken into the Margot Fonteyn Theatre (MFT) for a performance by the whole School. Upper School students made a special trip to White Lodge to perform a section of Soirées Musicales for the Prince, which they will perform at Opera Holland Park and the Royal Opera House as part of our Summer Performances this year.
At the end of the visit, the Prince offered a lovely speech about his pride at being the School’s President and his delight at watching our students dance.
