On Friday 1 July we held the very first graduation of our Diploma of Dance Training course at the Upper School in Covent Garden. Present were our Chairman of our Board, the Duchess of Wellington and speaking at the event were Roger Tully and Ginny Brown as well as Darcey Bussell, who awarded the diplomas.
Speaking about teachers of dance, Darcey said:
‘My first inspiration were my teachers – I hadn’t really seen much dance when I started to learn to do classical ballet, and it was all down to my teachers who inspired me and gave me that passion to carry on. I owe it all to my teachers.’
Looking to the graduates, many of whom she has seen dance in their careers, she commented:
‘I have so much admiration for these teachers.’
