World Ballet Day 2021

Last week, the School celebrated World Ballet Day. A record breaking 51 companies participated from across the globe with 24 hours of free content available on YouTube, Facebook and TikTok.

The School took part in the largest ever global dance challenge, Jump for Joy.

The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet showcased lots of our alumni in their segments of the day.

Alumni Sofia Liñares and Shuailun Wu featured in Birmingham Royal Ballet’s dance film Burning Building by Javier De Frutos.

At the Royal Opera House our Choreographic Course Coordinator & Tutor, Mikaela Polley, rehearsed a new piece with some of the Aud Jebsen Young Dancers including our alumni Denilson Almeida, Daichi Ikarashi, James Large, Maddison Pritchard and Marianna Tsembenhoi. Later in the day, Denilson Almeida rehearsed his own choreography with our alumni Ava May Llewellyn and Joonhyuk Jun.

If you missed the day’s events you can still watch The Royal Ballet’s and Birmingham Royal Ballet’s livestreams until 30 October.
