Students perform at Buckingham Palace Garden Party
On Wednesday 14 May, eight of our Year 10 students were invited to perform at a special Garden Party at Buckingham Palace hosted by Their Majesties The King and Queen to celebrate the Education and Skills sector.
Supported by the Department of Education, the event honoured individuals involved in teaching and training for young people across the UK.
The students performed excerpts from August Bournonville’s Napoli to an audience of 7,000 guests including teachers, students and key figures in the education sector, alongside live music from the British Army Band Catterick and the Band of The Royal Air Force Regiment.
As Patron of the School, it was an honour for our White Lodge students to perform for His Majesty The King.
Iain Mackay, Artistic Director of The Royal Ballet School, said of the event:
‘It’s an immense privilege for our young students to have the opportunity to perform for Their Majesties, particularly for the first time since His Majesty The King accepted Patronage of the School. We’re deeply honoured to perform at an event which celebrates the vital role of educators across the UK, and we’re proud to be part of this occasion with others who share our commitment to nurturing young people, whatever their background, to thrive and reach their unique potential.’
