New Spring Programme to launch in Hong Kong and London
For the very first time The Royal Ballet School has will run an exclusive Spring Programme, expanding its reach from London and the UK to ballet students in Hong Kong and beyond.
Taught by Royal Ballet School artistic staff, alumni and guest teachers and open to students and teachers from around the world, the programme will bring The Royal Ballet School’s style of training to the heart of Asia as well as the School’s home in London.
Training will take place at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong and at The Royal Ballet School’s White Lodge campus in London in April 2018.
Students can choose one week of intensive ballet training at either location, from 30 March to 5 April 2018 in Hong Kong (10 to 18-year-olds) or from 9 to 13 April 2018 in London (11 to 15-year-olds).
Christopher Powney, Artistic Director of The Royal Ballet School, said:
‘This is a fantastic new development for The Royal Ballet School and a wonderful opportunity for young ballet dancers to access the very highest calibre of ballet training during their school holidays. It is particularly exciting to be able to expand our reach into Asia and beyond, for the first time allowing talented young people in Asia and Oceania easier access to our unique System of Training.’
This exciting new Spring Programme builds on the success of our newly expanded Summer Programme, which saw overwhelming demand for places and record numbers of applicants in 2017.
The programme gives students a unique chance to experience the same world class training enjoyed by full-time students of the School and get an insight into The Royal Ballet School System of Training. It is also a chance for young dancers to meet new people, make friends and share their passion for dance.
The new programme will form part of The Royal Ballet School’s search for talent, with Christopher Powney, Artistic Director and Mark Annear, Head of Outreach and Access, overseeing the programme in both London and Hong Kong.
One of our 2017 Summer Programme attendees commented:
‘This has been my favourite intensive to date. It has been an amazing experience to be able to learn from such distinguished teachers and I have made friendships that I will never forget.’
