Young dancers dance in a circle in a production of the nutcracker

The Royal Ballet School students take to the stage in The Nutcracker

Students from The Royal Ballet School are dancing in both The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet’s productions of The Nutcracker, continuing a long-standing tradition.

For many, watching The Nutcracker is an essential, magical part of the Christmas season. For these young students this is an exciting opportunity to gain performance experience and share the stage with world-class dancers. The students have been working hard for several weeks preparing to perform.

Year 8 students from White Lodge are dancing as Party Children on stage at The Royal Opera House, in Sir Peter Wright’s much-loved production for The Royal Ballet. 2nd and Pre-professional Year students from Upper School join them in the cast as Angels. The production runs until Saturday 8 January.

Meanwhile, Pre-professional Year students are performing with Birmingham Royal Ballet at the Birmingham Hippodrome. The company are presenting a special staging by 59 Productions featuring a wall of mirrors, while Sir Peter Wright’s classic production undergoes a renovation. The production runs until Saturday 11 December.
