Lauren Wycherley

Lauren has been learning ballet, contemporary and jazz since she was 8 years old, and currently trains at Mt Eden Ballet Academy in Auckland, New Zealand, under Melinda Palmer.

She has achieved success at competitions in New Zealand and overseas. Her first international competition was the 2019 Asian Grand Prix, precompetitive category, in Hong Kong. Lauren won third place and was awarded a scholarship with the New Zealand School of Dance.

Lauren won first place at the 2020 Los Angeles Youth America Grand Prix semi-final precompetitive category in and was invited to finals. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 the finals in New York were cancelled.

At the online 2021 Youth American Grand Prix semi-finals, Lauren achieved a top 12 placing in the junior category and was awarded a short term scholarship at John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Germany.

On being named a Royal Ballet School International Scholar, Lauren said:
‘I am so excited and honoured to have been given this amazing opportunity by The Royal Ballet School. Ever since I attended the 2019 Summer Intensive at White Lodge, it has been my dream to one day return and study at The Royal Ballet School. 
 
I’m looking forward to coming back to London to train at White Lodge again soon, and in the meantime will do my best to represent The Royal Ballet School in New Zealand.’
Lauren was offered a place to train full-time at The Royal Ballet School, commencing September 2024.
