Dancers holding garlands perform the garland dance from the sleeping beauty

2nd Year students at The Royal Ballet School take to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall

We are thrilled to say our 2nd Year students will be performing alongside dancers from Birmingham Royal Ballet and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on Wednesday 10 November. The students will be taking part in The Beauty of Ballet, described as ‘a spellbinding celebration of music and ballet.’

Barry Wordsworth will be conducting The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as they honour some of the most iconic works of Russian Romanticism, including Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and Swan Lake and Minkus’ Don Quixote. Alongside performances from esteemed members of Birmingham Royal Ballet, our 2nd Year students will be dancing the much-loved Garland Dance from The Sleeping Beauty.

The 2nd Years also performed this piece to great acclaim for our Summer Performances 2021 at the Royal Opera House.

The Royal Ballet School’s Artistic Director Christopher Powney said:

‘Opportunities to perform onstage are integral to our training programmes as we prepare our students for careers in the professional dance world. It’s been more challenging over the past 18 months to achieve this, so we’re absolutely delighted to see our students taking to the stage again and in such esteemed company. We wish them the very best of luck!’
