Intensive Courses on Demand: train with The Royal Ballet School, anytime, anywhere
We’re always working to increase global access to our world-class teaching. We get so much joy from bringing our masterclasses to locations across Europe, Hong Kong, Korea, and Brazil among other places, and we have been developing new ways to expand our reach to ballet students who we can’t reach in person.
We’re therefore thrilled to launch a new on Demand platform that makes our teaching available to all dance students, wherever they are, for the first time.
It’s important to us that the classes are affordable: from as little as £10 per class, the user has lifetime ownership. The courses are tailored to developmental age groups: 11-13-year-olds, 14-15-year-olds and 16+, the same as our full-time training programmes. Classes can be viewed on any device and used wherever students are in the world, and all exercises have been carefully designed to be executed in a smaller space than a ballet studio and without specialist equipment, so are perfect to do at home.
Dancers can expect classes taught by expert Royal Ballet School teachers, including the School’s Artistic Director, current Artistic faculty and esteemed guest teachers. They will include classical ballet classes, focus classes on specific elements of classical technique, character and contemporary classes, body conditioning and Pilates, giving students a unique insight into the range and quality of the exceptional training delivered at the School. There will also be interviews and informational talks with the School’s Artistic and Healthcare teams.
The new Intensive Courses on Demand is an addition to the Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme that brings a new approach to ballet training to the recreational dance sector, and Primary Steps on Demand, the flexible online programme we have created to bring dance education to primary schools across the UK.
The classes are not suitable for absolute beginners, designed instead to supplement and enhance the training a student is already taking. Students will enjoy experiencing different teaching styles, dance styles and disciplines, increasing their versatility and adaptability. They’ll develop and refine their ballet technique, mastering essential skills, and they’ll also develop artistry, musicality and self-expression, elements that Royal Ballet School students are particularly renowned for.
The first group of classes, for 11-13-year-olds, will be available to purchase from 28 October, with more content to follow in December and the coming months.
