Minori de Silva
Minori de Silva is 12 years old and has been dancing at Morning Star Dance Academy in Georgia, USA, since the age of 7. She is also a keen pianist and has achieved many accolades for her piano-playing. She is in the Accelerated Programme at school and is also in the Talented and Gifted (TAG) programme for Science and Social Studies.
Minori was awarded the Shelley King Award and placed in the top 12 in the Junior Age Category at the 2022 Youth America Grand Prix Finals, where Mr Powney saw her perform. She was also invited to perform at the 2022 Youth America Grand Prix Gala in Mexico. She received a gold medal at the World Ballet Competition 2022 and was invited to perform at the gala. Minori also placed in the top 12 in the 2021 Youth America Grand Prix Finals in the Classical – Pre-Competitive class.
In 2022, Minori has been awarded scholarships at Princess Grace Academy in Monaco, Berlin State Ballet School in Germany and Houston Ballet Academy in Texas.
On being named a Royal Ballet School International Scholar, Minori said:
‘I feel incredibly honoured and thankful to be selected as a Royal Ballet School International Scholar. I am so grateful to my teachers, family, and friends who have helped me with this achievement. I can’t wait to start the program!‘
